Has anyone done the Dunnes MAP programme? Do the hours calm down after completion?

    Management application programme

    Oh the memories

Do the sections within 3 months then your finished but as the trainee your gonna get the crappy hours for a good while yet(i was there)

The manager of the shop your in is supposed to set aside time for you to do them in but unless your in a large shop with excess managers then do it as you go along and just ask questions for the bit your unsure of, most of it is common sense

are you ex staff of dunnes? I was and it made MAP a little easier. Good luck those were the days best ever

    Hi Gerry,

Thanks for your reply :) I'm not the one doing it, my friend has been working 10-13 hour days which is a bit much IMO. Is this the norm? I think it finishes up in a few weeks, I was wondering after that if the hours are more normal 8 hour work days, seems a bit like slave labour at the moment. My friend is a trainee.

I reckon your mate should be prepared to do 47+ hours a week tbh.

ha 8 hours a day are you joking im store manager and I still do 9/10 hour days

honestly your mate will have to ask why he is doin those hours, is it because he is failing to get the jobs done in time or has he no choice in the matter. As manager he has to delegate and failure to do this leads to longer days as the jobs took longer than expected to do.

however he could have a crap manager above him who is a slave driver and giving him the crappy hours but thye still never give those long days that is a bit much

overall be prepared to put in long days but only for a while it does get better as you move along
