Does anyone think if we suggest to SU that DCU should increase the mail size, they would implement it eventually??
Cos those 20Mb don't go a long way..
Lecturer's note etc takes up most of my space..
And it gets very annoying when there's constantly a reminder from CSD telling me that the mailbox is almost full..

Chances are slim to none right?

I've asked a few people about this and one thing we initially forgot to remember is that CSD still provide the mail service for past students so it wasn't the 20MB x 10,000 that we initially thought about. That said this has provoked my interest so I reckon I'll drop CSD a mail this week and ask myself. Stay tuned...

surely CSD can distinguish between past and present students...

and i just fwd dcu mail to gmail to solve the space issues.

huh? No no, your DCU mail remains active even once you've left the college so they still have to allocate those accounts space. As such the overall space they require is more significant than just the 200GB of space needed for the 10,000 or so current students ands staff.

    yeah i know that

i mean could csd give current students more space, which then decreases to 20gb when ya graduate?

Heh, I assume you mean MB. ;)

I would have thought perhaps 50-100MB for current students and then decrease it after that would be fair enough. That said in the day of Gmail and its 1GB storage most other services still seem inadequate...

I'd wonder would DCU ever consider something like Google Apps for Education (http://www.google.com/a/edu/?hl=en). It'd be useful for students, but it'd be a huge change (and there could be confidentiality issues) so understandable if they weren't interested or if it just wasn't technically possible..
