I had a Fully Approved (grade 1 or whatever it is) fitted when I bought my bike for €250 or someit. More aftermarket.

Hi ldr, best of luck with the bandit. Carole Nash have offered my club the following deal: an Alarm/Immobiliser fitted at your location, Thacham Cat 1 for €400. As far as I know you get your money back if the bike is stolen. In the past I have bought lower spec alarms for about €130 and fit them myself but in the event of a theft the insurance company might not pay out if the alarm is not up to scratch. I service my own bike and fit my own tyres, but I am a qualified mechanical tradesman. You should have a go at the oil and sparkplug changes yourself. Where are u based, I might know someone in your area that services bikes. I am in south meath.

thankx macnab. carole nash offered me the same deal 400 for the alarm plus to fit it. seems a bit to expenive. if i get alarm fitted in one of the local dealers does it make any difference if the bike is stolen, if i was insured fire and theft? would they still give me what the bike is worth? im only insured third party only but ill be changing it to fire and theft for peace of mind. im in cork

If you get the local guy to fit the alarm just make sure to get a receipt and keep it safe. Ask the insurance company what make and model of alarm they indorse.
