does anyone know is it possible to send in a letter from an employer asking for my test to be processed quicker after I have already applied?

I Applied for my test back in August/September in the Churchtown test center which has one of the longest waiting time. I'm going to America in May and would like to have had my test before then.

    Anyone done this before?

    Cheers for any help.

Yeah it works alright. Got a letter from my 'employer', even though it was a part time weekend job and I was 17 and in school at the time  saying that I needed the test to take up a full time position which was becoming available two months from the date of the letter.

Result: got a date three weeks later (and this was at a time when waiting times at the Naas centre were approaching 60 weeks).

But it gets even better! I failed the test the first time. Thought there wasn't a snowballs chance in hell of skipping the queue the next time. Sent the exact same letter in again, got another date in a fortnight  and passed. Got a nice insurance rebate cheque of over a grand int he post the next week!

So to answer your question, yes, if the letter is somewhat believeable it's well worth your while. Just tell them that you're willing to take any date at short notice no matter what day or time and as soon as a cancellation comes up you'll get a letter.

Hello there and welcome to boards.

This thread is over 4 years old. So i would presume that the person who started isn't looking at it anymore.

Also, test waiting times are much lower these days, so much so that a letter from an employer wont make that much, or any difference.

Provided you've held your 1st learner permit for 6 months or more you can SIT the driving test. If you have not held your first permit for 6 months, you may apply for the test when ever you wish, but you must state on the application that you can only sit a test after a particular date.

Anyway i'm going to close this. Pop over to Learning to drive to start a new thread if you wish. Click here to do so:
