didnt think this would be right for P.I

I moved into my house on dec 11th.Moved all my stuff and moved over all my bills etc including my TV licence-I called the tv licence company in waterford and had the address changed.

Since then ive gotten FOUR letters from them saying that ive no TV licence(i do- and its not up until july) and they are taking me to court.I have called them a few times and they have apoligised and "updated " my file

And this morning in the post i got another court letter!

And now they arent answering the phone and the people at the post office said ive to take it up with them!

What am i supposed to do?Wait till they come kicking down my door!

Contact them directly at 01-705 7252 and explain the situation. That should get you off the hook.Trust me, I work in An Post.

You'd be better off asking here. They're very helpful in there, and much more likely to know.

Well if you have a license then you've nothing to worry about. It's not like they're going to come in the middle of the night and drag you away. Just keep trying to ring the company and give them a bollocking for cocking up.

I had the same problem in the last house I rented. Someone goofed and got the house number wrong, this was later fixed but for the first six months I was there I got several threatening letters from An Post.

The first few times I rang them, they apologised and "updated their records" but it still kept happening. Eventually I started to ignore their letters and nothing came of it.

I would relish the opportunity of going to court in your situation. When the charge is read and his lordship asks if you have anything to say, I'd hit them for six. I'd then request that his lordship grants me expenses for taking time off work, wasting the court's time etc. Red faces all around for An Post. :D

If you do get taken to court, bring your TV licence cert with you and rub it in their faces. The judge will throw the case out.

That's weird I've never recieved a letter from them and I've never had a licence, one time an inspector showed up at the house.

Inspector: We have you listed as not having a TV licence.
Me: Uh.. Yeah.. I just moved in, I'm getting one tomorrow.
    Inspector: OK so, bye.

Paying it propably puts you on their list so they know where to go looking.

But that means a day off work and loss of earnings. The OP I'd say would rahter not let it get that far
