    Hey all!

Im flying Aer Lingus (serviced by American Airlines) from Dublin to Chicago and then Chicago to Dallas on American Airlines soon. Im then getting the same route vice versa for the way home . I know that I have to collect my baggage anyway for security reasons when I first arrive in the States but on the way back will my bag be checked straight through from Dallas to Dublin???

    Thanks

    Rockee :)

You will have to collect bags AFAIK and bring them to a special transfer desk and have them checked on through.

You could always ask on the American Airlines board on Flyertalk (http://flyertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=445) as to the exact arrangements at Dallas-Forth Worth as they'll have a lot of flyers there that use it regularily.

A few years ago I did something similar. It was an Aer Lingus/AA thing too.I was going Chicago-Boston-Dublin and our bags were checked through all the way.Our flight was late landing in Boston so there was a mix up and our bags got lost. But in theory yes they can be checked through coming back, dont know about going over flew direct.Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

You can get bags checked all way through, but when entering u.s. you have to pickup bags, wheel them 50 yards or so through customs, and put them on another conveyor belt, on way home bags would not have to be collected in chicago and can be put through all the way to dublin.
