Sky link stopped working

Hi, a few months ago i bought one of those Sky remote links for using sky from a different tv without multiroom. I had a Pace decoder. Anyway the other day when herself was doing some cleaning my 3 year old daughter decided to help and swiped a bottle of cif, the spray type, and decided to clean the decoder. Needless to say, she fried it. I picked up a reconditioned one for €100 from skyireland.ie the same day (€200 and 3 weeks from sky)

The one I got is an Amstrad with a white remote. All 3 remotes I have will operate the decoder downstairs but none of them will operate the sky link upstairs. I have turned on the 9v RF and the red light on the link is on but no joy. Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I am getting a picture. It's just the remotes won't work.

And you have used RF2? There is no voltage on RF1.

Loose cabling could be the problem. The light can work but the box won't respond.

    Yea its clearly marked 9v.
I'll check the cabling again but the picture is fine??

Is the power the RF2 Out socket enabled?

Yep and the red light on the link is on.

Well, if the light on the Link is lit, that would assume that the cabling is correct.

So, perhaps the Link itself has died (they're not the most robust of gadgets), otherwise, there's a problem with the new box. I'd be more inclined to blame the Link, particularly if it's a Global Communications one. I personally prefer the Triax ones.

Wouldn't that be too much of a coincidence? It's an slx-link...or maybe its sfx.....or just sx? Anyway.... its a nuisance not having it working.

If the light is lit - does that not mean it is receiving the 9 volts?
