House damaged in Sky installation

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Had a Sky dish attached to the side of my house last night and in the process they damaged the finish. Some large chunks of render were broken off the corner and it's fairly noticeable.

Extremely pissed off as the guys didn't even say anything and I only noticed the damage after they left.

Rang the owner of the company as soon as I saw the damage and he said he'd be out today. After a no-show this afternoon he told me that he'd be out to look at it tomorrow and should have it fixed by Saturday. Anyone else have this problem and if so what was the outcome?

    Thanks for any comments.

Is the bracketry for the dish on the corner of the wall? If so, it's not somewhere I'd put a dish, as common sense tells you there is only plaster at the edge.

Anyway, wait and see what the bossman says. I'd expect he'll get the damage sorted out.

If they put the dish very close to the edge, they were fools.

But if it's well in from the corner, then they hit a bit of bad luck. They should have told you however, and in fairness, the boss does seem willing to sort it for you.

the damage is called a blow out. it's when you drill from the inside out and the drill bit pushes out the plaster rather than drilling through it. installer can get special cover plates.:)

How would he be drilling from the inside out on a corner?

So what does this corner refer to then?

sorry about that some installers try to get as close to the front of the house with a dish without putting on the front. that's the corner sorted then:D

A neighbour got a sky dish fitted on chimney last month and the fitters ran a big black cable right down the front of the house when they should have ran it down the corner of the house (front/bay of house sticks out a bit from rest house) where it would have been near invisible. Cretins, but neighbour does'nt seem to mind much as they have'nt changed it.
