after hearing some reports of this site being dodgy got a bit woryed after i had just orderd a lense and mem card of it :D but alls ok now as i have jsut recived my lense(50mm f1.8) and 1gb card for €130 inc shiping.

    crits on the weby
    cons
it doesnt tell you if they have items in stock. i would email ahead just to check.

the shipping company they use GLS do have a tracking system but only give you numbers and incomings and outgoings making it imposable to know where your purchase is.

took a little longer then expected being that of over all 2 weeks

    pros
prices!! very good prices. even the price for courier is good being €22 for under 2kg i think

the communitation is very good being they respsond happily to very email i sent regarding my purchase within the day it was sent

this e-shop is good, i recomemnd it :D
    enjoy

Thats cheap advertising ,I've read posts of people spending thousands and getting nothing in return.
Some people get secondhand stuff and damaged stuff aswell.

well didnt mean for this to be an advert but there was a tread earlier in the month about it and ppl saying stay well away from them.

that said yes ive heard those stories too but they all seem to be with the old company that this one was linked too (ny-camera) this seems, though linked to be a different company. correct me if im wrong though

Raziel ,I don't mean you are advertising for them .
I mean if that guy supplies everyone who orders cheap goods promptly.
It costs him less to get good feedback from them customers.

It looks like he stocks cheap goods and more expensive stuff he orders off the net and ships it to customers.

Were it not for your postcount, I'd assume you were a bot or astroturfer. I ordered a lens from them back in August and while I got it, I thought the service was horrible, dodgy in the extreme and I would never in honesty order from them again.

Ordered a 400d and lens from them and jhad it in a matter of days. Found them quite communicative too. Although their english could do with being brushed up a bit.Otherwise I found them fine.

I bought a lens and some gear last Friday with my credit card. Then I found about the NY horror stories. I think i'll just sit tight and see how it goes.

I've just one question. Did they ask you for a credit card scan? If yes, did you send it to them? (two questions ;) )

They took nearly two weeks to get around to authenticating the card I used and processing the order after I made it.

I ordered my D80 from them some months back. And while I had to send a scan of my card I got everything fine and haven't had problems since. Good lines of communication too.

They didn't request anything but the standard details from my card. I didn't have to send them a photocopy or any other details.

I spoke to one of the guys over there today. He has three of my items in stock and will have the 50mm f1.4 lens by Wednesday. He seems a pleasant enough character. Said he'll throw in a couple of cans of German Beer for the delay. :) Hopefully I'll have the package this day next week.

    Dave

BTW. He didn't ask me for CC scan or ID.

last year i had got a 70-200 from them they were very competitive in the price dept, and everything went pretty much ok
course that was before i read some of the horror stories.

Still i'd be comfortable enough with them for small ticket items

You'd never know, they could be grand, and on the evidence here they seem to be. All somone has to do these days is to slag a business off in a blog and on a few forums and the negative press will gain momentum.
Paper never refused ink and all that. Or html or whatever it is these days.

I wouldn't take that chance - that just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

There are lots of companies out there to choose from so why pick a company where the owner has already been done for fraud (not made up in a blog ! !) and left dozens if not hundreds of people completely f****ed. And since the new company has already been involved in shady practices and threatens to sue for $1,000,000 anyone who mentions them negatively in a blog - why deal with people like that ? I just dont see the sense in customers giving people like that a second chance.

The way I would look at that would be who knows when the owner will decide to start ripping people off again. It would be unrealistic for a company to try and rip off all the people all the time - the way to do it is to rip off some of them some of the time (in various ways outlined below) and then go for the big score at the end before re-registering your company and starting over again. I wouldn't want to ever be in a situation where I have several grand prepaid into their account.
