    I actually love this photo, taken last Saturday. Its one of my niece, mother and sister in the background, 3 generations in one photo but in a natural setting, not really posing.

    it's nice, maybe brighten it up a bit, the details are a bit weak in the lady holding the baby

    it lacks contrast - the shadows in the pic are way above solid black, but since your subject is in shadow, it's not a simple job.

    I like the light flooding in the window, it's a really nice natural slice of life - as mele says though it could really do with the detail in the foreground being lightened up, and a bit more contrast - there doesn't seem to be any true black in there. Some curves work would probably help...?

    And this is where I need help, "curves work" I assume has something to do with the histogram function? (See I am a total newbie from the editing/processing side of things!!)
