Showing your cards in cash games

2 players all in before the river in a live cash game. Should they both be asked to show their cards i.e. "on their backs" as in tournaments?

What are the arguments for and against enforcing such a rule in house cash games?

    Nicky.

I dont believe cash game players should ever be forced to show a hand that is calling unless they want to claim the pot

I think if we force players to show we risk embarassing bad players into playing better

A plus to doing it would be that it would speed up the game

Making players show their cards before the river would stop people who always slowroll.

Its an anti collusion rule. The advent of TV poker also makes it good TV but other than that theres no reason to show your hand before the river, if its not usually done it will stop people showing thinking the other player is all in.

You shouldnt make people show in cash games
    Reasons :
    1) Cash games can be more aggressive than tourneys. Thus asking somebody to show his cr@p holdings wont help the mood. The same donkey will feel much better by mucking and moaning to everybody he has been rivered.
    2) Donkey from 1 wont go into a huff and will be happy to donate his cash in the next game
    3) Speed. If people who arent used to showing are told to show they might protest (see 1) and thus slow the game down which is already fairly slow due to the amount of drunken nut b@lls playing
    4) I have paid to see the rest of the cards, but I aint giving you any more information about my hand then I positively have to if I loss.
