LCD monitor broken?

I got a new lcd monitor recently (second hand).
It had no power cable with it, but I managed to find one on ebay.
It arrived yesterday, so I plugged it in and all was well for about 2mins when it just stopped working.
There are no lights on on it or anything.

I don't know if the problem is with the power adapter or the monitor. How can I check which it is and if its the monitor, what are the chances of it being easily and cheaply fixable?

    what model ?

does it just have a power cable or is it like a 12V DC adaptor that could be tested with a meter ?

I tested the power adapter, its giving off the right voltage (don't know about the current though).

If its the monitor what are the chances of it being cheaply and easily repairable and where can I go to get it fixed?
