PGCE Recognition (Swansea specifically)

    Hey Folks,

I am in the middle of a PGCE in IT in Swansea and preparing myslef for the hasstle of registering with the teaching council. I have heard and indeed read a lot of contradictory information about getting registered with the TC. Has anyone here registered a Swansea PGCE.

I am hoping to teach History and ICT when I come back. I have a Mary I BA in History and Media, which 'should' give me recognition as a History teacher as it is on the auto recognised list. I am wondering about the IT side of it. I got the IT PGCE on the basis of a MSc in IMedia from UL, which included programming etc. I presume I will have to play to get this recognised as qualification to enable me to teach ICT. I am also wondering if there is any point in doing this as its not an exam subject.

SHould I only bother about getting the Hist recognised and the teaching qual of course.

Also does anyone know what the story with the post PGCE induction period is? Could I do it in Ireland? Do I need to do it to teach in Ireland (at the moment my research says no.
