I believe it's the phoenetical description of the black pudding counties accent.
And if you can't figure that out you have obviously had your eyes and ears closed for the length of time you've grown up in Ireland.

i think this is an example of how Setanta was talking on the Tall, Dark and O'Hailpin show last night.

I found myself saying this after the show a few times, he said it often enough!

    Good impression OP.

Fair enough but it just makes ye out to nothing but ignorant fools, of the type that understands nothing and knows nothing of the wider world around them

Instead of making a proper mature discussion of the subjects highlighted in last nights program some children (sorry but there are no other way to describe yer attitudes) decide to mock a countys accent, or how one speaks.

How brave and mature of ye lads, Well done.

    Take it to After Hours.

It was an interesting insight into the 3 brothers. They are affable fella's but different in character.

Clearly Setanta and Aisake look up to his big brother like no other. Clearly Sean Og is a very good hurler and sportsman in general and probably would have easily made it into AFL if he would have been given the opportunity. Its a big choice for GAA players, whether to turn their hands to other more lucrative sports or not, but then again, Sean Og will not be stuck for a job and they give him plenty of days off I am sure - it works for them and him.

Setanta too could have done it in Hurling - he was already well on his way, but amazing to see how his ball skills pucking around get rusty so quick.

Sean Og at 30 is past being moulded into an AFL player. There are a few more runs at the All-Ireland Hurling in him, no doubt. Setanta, being 6 years younger is getting started in AFL and played some 10+ games last year. So who knows. It's only Carlton though. I dont think that Aisake has the level that's needed at AFL. Time will tell.

The 3 lads arrived in Ireland at the ages of 3, 5, and 11 so they did well to pick up the gaelige, so fluently although maybe they had some of that before they left Oz.

Overall, I thought it was an interesting documentary, although it wasnt complete and left some questions unanswered, such as where is their Father (has he passed away?). How exactly did Setanta get the opportunity, etc?

I think this thread should be kept open.
So, lets continue from here with a mature discussion.

As for the original post, I think it was done in good taste and was funny. People have accents and indeed accents are liked, yes, even the kar-ik accent! Setanta and the lads all have strong accents, I think they would admit that too no doubt, but its not mocking to take off an accent per se. For example, Apres Match take off characters but they are not seen as mocking, derogotary, derisory or discriminating.

Also a bit strange that there was no mention of their other brother Teu who is next eldest after Sean Og

Was slagging the Cork boys during the week saying they should have called
' Tall, Dark and O hAsbeen'.

They should show more programs like that.

I suppose not everyone in a family has either the genetic make-up nor the inclination to spend and dedicate so much time to sports. You get that in all families. No two are the same, each one to their own, as the saying goes.

    I wish them all well.

Instead of making a mockery of their accents why don't you comment on the actual programme?

I personally thought it was very interesting and would like to see more programmes like this in the future....though I doubt there's a more interesting Irish sports family out there at the moment. Great show.

Didn't Teu play GAA for London? Worth a mention I'd think.

This thread by the OP is an insult to this fine family who have given a million times more to Irish culture and heritage than all of us posting here.

Think its basically the continueous jealousy of people from other counties seen as Cork are by far the successful county in the GAA that they reduce themselves to such childish behaviour.

Back to the programme, very interesting and insightful look into their lives hopefully RTE will keep up such programmes.

    What's all this then?

Long as this doesn't turn into a Cork v TheRest thread, I don't mind.

    OP edited.
