2 questions from $20K guaranteed on PP

    hi all,

played in the €20k guaranteed last night on PP & came across 2 hands that i was totally unsure of & not sure if i made the right lay-down for both or was i bullied off the pots?
both examples below are tables a bit tight but very aggressive.

    $18 rebuy. 520 starters. $6.5k for 1st. payout down to 63rd who gets $130.

    1) 70 players left. blinds 300/600. i have 13k (approx 20BB). Button has 30k. SB & BB short stacked with 5k. i'm utg + 1 with AQo. i raise to 2k. button goes all in.

was i right to fold, as 1st aim is to make the money & then start loosening up? i will still have 18BB so plenty of play left.
If i was short stacked, ie, 5BB, then obviously a push?

result: folded & no-one else called, so did not see his cards.

    2) 40 players left. blinds 1200/2400. 25k in chips. get 10/10 3 from button. raise it to 6k. get min raised from SB (70k chips) to 12k, so call the extra 6k. 28k now in pot.
Flop 9J3o. he goes all in.

Stunk of KK or AA, so folded but was crippled after this hand.

should i have folded or called (don't think so as putting in 6k to win 22k & also implied odds of doubling up if a 10 came, but no-mans territory if 9 high or less comes out)?

Hand 1. Good Fold. Generally he's not putting 30k in the middle with less than AQ. It could be a bubble play, knowing you'll fold almost every hand here to make sure you get paid, but unlikely. Stinks of AK.

Hand 2. Push or fold to his min raise depending on your info on him. However, you'll nearly always see AA/KK here.

You sure the blinds were only 300/600 with 70 left? Something doesn't add up.

they could have been up to 600/1200, but unsure...stack sizes were correct at that time though...

Hand 1) Clear Fold unless you have a read on the player At best it is 50/50 against 99-JJ. At worst you is in a whole world of pain !
Hand 2) At this stage ship the sherbit pre-flop with no messing about.

Hand 1: Usually a fold, range dependant of course. BTW, the fact that you have 18BBs left shouldn't really be a big issue in whether you call or not, it should be more about getting your money in in a profitable situation.

Hand 2: 10BBs, TT on the button, standard push. And in your case, push to the min-raise as well. Your weakish raise allows the blinds to play back at you with marginal hands. As it played out, I probably make a crying call on the river, but I don't really know what players do in these games. If the SB's min-raise pre-flop usually means AA or KK, then fold pre-flop! But that's unlikely, and I'm sure the SB's range includes pairs < TT, and missed AK's, AQ's, enough to make a call ok. By the tone of your post you've been playing ultra-tight, and the SB probably picked up on this, so he might push with anything on the flop, assuming you missed.
