anyone manage to set up their mediacenter pc work as a mediacenter on the tv and a desktop pc on a monitor at the same time

how did you get ehome to appear in the tv and the start menu/taskbar to appear on the monitor?

would you recommend to someone else to do it?

You mean have the MCE UI running on the TV and the XP desktop on the monitor.

Not seen anyone try that before, you could search over at The Green Button but I'm not sure it can be done, Ultramon might be worth a try and force the eHome to open on a second display.

Of course this begs the question as the mouse and keyboard work in MCE this isn't going to be terribly useful if you attempt to use the desktop for anything.

    very good point,

i suppose the only way to use the mediacenter pc as a desktop is to buy a xbox360

Probably now if you could find a way to disable the mouse & keyboard in MCE that might give you a chance but it is a lot of ifs & buts...

There are supposedly newer extenders coming out after Vista launches so wait and see if they are cheaper than the Xbox 360 or even available here.
