From iBood, for the next 23 hours, or until stocks run out. Looks very much like the European version of the MeDrive, which means it should display DivX subtitles.

If you like that kind of thing.

Do you think this would be Mac compatible? The ibood site doesn't mention it but the link the the MeDrive does say its compatible. They're the same hard drive just rebranded arent they?

OK, I've just ordered one. I hope that WAS a secure transaction. Haven't got a confirmation email

This seems to be the exact same as an ATMT badged drive that I tried to buy in Maplins on Saturday, except they were selling it for about €290! Fortunately they were sold out at the time :)

    I've mailed customerservice@ibood.com

Let's see what happens. Ideally I'd like not to miss this offer as I actually wanted this product and was prepared to pay €100 more for it in Maplins yesterday.

Would be perfect if it could play files from a USB memory key.

Am I right in assuming it won't?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,807 ✭✭✭chump

WHat exact compatability will this have, would I be better off buying a regular ext HD and playing items through my laptop for comprehensive codec support?

If you copy whats on the USB stick to the HD it will.

But why would you want something like this if you want to play it from a memory stick?

It's just if I have the drive plugged in and connected to the TV in a different room, it would be easier to just put a file on the stick. Then I could just slot that in to the HD rather than unhooking the drive and hooking it up to the PC again.

Oh right yeah. I thought youw anted to hook the USB key to the tv

Ordered this but did a bit "arse-ways" (to put it mildly)..

Ordered it via an international bank transfer as opposed to credit card (don't ask me why!) last night about 1am. They sent me an e-mail with order details and a order number. Then afterwards, i regretted ordering it and sent them an e-mail cancelling it.

And then, the indecisive fecker that i am had a change of heart and sent the money this morning (using that same order number from the one i cancelled, but they never got back to me and the product is still down as 'in progress'). So i hope my order is put through.

Also, the way the e-mail address was formatted with bank details was a bit confusing so i'm not positive i got the Reciever's Name & Address correct but i definitely got the SWIFT code and IBAN right so i hope this is enough (anyone put my mind at ease?)

PS - the USB key thing would suit me too as my 4GB key could store my latest stuff i've just acquired from the PC, and then just plug it in when ready to watch in the other room.

Oh... and today's offer just put up:

Cutlery - Sola set of containing 90 pieces - €59.95

    (think i'll skip it!) :D

Assuming you have the correct SWIFT and IBAN, there shouldn't be a problem (there might be an issue if the Beneficiary Name is different than that linked to the account...) Should be grand though!

Cheers for that... let's hope there's no problem!

Regarding customer service, e-mailed the orders@ibood.com e-mail address 3 - 4 times yesterday and customerservice@ibood.com twice. Nothing off them since.. but apparently their customer service isn't the best.

PS - good looking flashy site but misspelled 'amount' as 'ammount' in the 'View Orders' section, and their e-mail address formatting is terrible.

I may go for the MeDrive (Thanks for that information, peckerhead)
It says that it has a Scart socket! Got good friends in the States so I can get them to get that for me. Hopefully all I'll need is a new powercord.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,196 ✭✭✭deadl0ck

I've just e-mailed cust services too.
When I log in there is no record of my order - the money hasn't been taken from my credit card yet, but if it is I'll be contesting it, unless they get me an order confirmation and details.

Got a reply back from customer services saying:
    Dear Mr. XXX,

We don't have received your payment yet. But when we received your money, we
will send you your order as soon as possible.

    Kind regards,

Poorer English than i'd have hoped.. but just hoping they recieve my payment with what i think is the incorrect Receiver Name and / or Receiver Address but correct IBAN / SWIFT. Otherwise, i'm pretty much out €182! :(

The even more unsettling thing is that it's status is complete in my International Payment Log..

Apparently they take the money straight away.

The are a Dutch based company so they may not have perfect English.

I'd love any email once is said I had got it

You have me doing a rethink now!

The mem card reader and the external controls are nice extra features to have.

I wouldn't be a big fan of Maxtor drives, so I may opt for just getting one of the enclosures and the drive separately from SVP when they get them in stock again.

    Dear Mr. Kearnsr,

I can confirm that your order has been received correctly and I shall try to send you the official confirmation as soon as possible.

We expect your order to arrive at the end of this week.

    Kind regards,

Just got this reply. So maybe its on the way

I recieved this (from klantenservice@ibood.com) on Friday:
    Dear Mr. Basquille,

We don't have received your payment yet. But when we received your money, we will send you your order as soon as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Customer Support
    iBOOD.com

I e-mailed back as i was unsure if i got the reciever's name and address correct in the bank transfer so i asked them to confirm. Got this first thing this morning (from klantenservice@ibood.com):
    Dear Mr. Basquille,

Thank you for informing us this way. The details are correct, so we don't
    see any problems.

When we receive the amount, we will sent you the product as soon as
    possible.

    Met vriendelijke groeten,
    Klantenservice iBOOD.com

    But got this around lunch-time - from a different e-mail domain (klantenservice@ikwilgratisbellen.nl)
    Dear Mr. Basquille,

We cancelled your order this morning, but I've been able to change the
status back to 'in progress'. We will check if the payment was received correctly and then ship it as soon as possible.

I expect the order to arrive at the end of this week.

    Kind regards,

    Customer service iBOOD.com

Am extremely confused! Just hope it arrives and they're not messing me about. Rang AIB Internet Banking on Friday who were very helpful in explaining that if they say they didn't recieve it, they can run a trace and ensured me that i'm well covered.

EDIT: Just sent this back to them:
    Dear Sir / Madam,

I've had 2 e-mails from customer service (klantenservice@ibood.com) before i even recieved yours saying they're waiting on payment before they'll ship it with no mention of cancellation so it seems odd that it was cancelled in the first place.

Am hoping you have a better CRM system than this.

Would appreciate if you could let me know when you recieve payment and / or when it's shipped. If i hear no word from you before tomorrow afternoon, i'm gonna get it touch with my bank who'll presumably get in touch with your bank as my transfer was instantaneous and waiting 3 business days on a simple confirmation is definitely reason to take action.

    Regards,

    XX

    Dear Mr. Bus

The order confirmation wasn't sent correctly. We are investigating how this could have happened.
However your order was placed and received correctly, so we expect your order to arrive at the end of this week.

    Our apologies for the inconvenience.

After i sent the e-mail above... got this back soon after:
    Dear Mr. Basquille,

Our apologies for the purhaps somewhat confusing e-mail. If you have made
the payment instantaneous I'm sure we will be able to find it tomorrow and
    ship it immediately.
That way your order will arrive at the end of the week.

I'll get back to you tomorrow to keep you informed on your order.
