i see a camera on 7dayshop.com for 75euro less than pixmania.com price and im amazed at the price difference. what am i missing?! if its a slap in the face and a kick in the ass to get buying it then that'd be great. does anyone have any experience buying on 7dayshop.com?

I buy memory cards from them and have no problems, very good prices.

I might be wrong ,but I was under the impression the company is located in jersey and has no taxes on their goods.
Someone mentioned their goods were stopped because of this.

did you have to pay a sales tax for the delivery to ireland?

I have bought loads from them, prices are great however, they use royal mail parcel force for delivery and this is a bad service so it can take some time to recieve stuff, I waited 2 weeks for my 17-40 and 50 1.4 to arrive at the door, their comms are not great as well.

Purchased lots of stuff from then, never had a problem.

Exactly my experience. But everything has arrived and in good nick. It's worth having a look at their cheap camera batteries. I got two for my 10D a couple of years ago and they are still flying.

I've used them loads for film and also bought a Nikon lens from them. They don't charge VAT on goods less than £18 per item, so packs of film were much cheaper off them.

My da has used them once and had a bit of a poor time trying to get an incorrect order fixed, but he's the first I've heard having trouble (it would have to have been, like! )

but what about buying a camera for 500euro, would i have to pay much extra on it?

I have purchased a lot of various bits and pieces and never had a problem from them. The price they ask is the price you pay

No, as they charge VAT on high-priced items, so you will have paid it. It'd be like buying stuff from any other UK retailer.

is it £18 per ITEM or £18 per SHIPMENT?

    Me too.

Actually, it's a pity they don't do something like a monthly special offers newsletter, or 'WIGIG of the week' or something.

I'd be wary of buying anything that might involve ever having to deal with their customer service, especially something expensive. I bought a tripod from them last year which arrived damaged, which led into a looonng painful process which wound up with me owning a tripod I didn't actually want (I wanted a refund) and paying our useless postal service about the value of the tripod in shipping.

I've bought small bits and pieces from them since, but only stuff where there's little or no chance of it arriving knackered. I'd be wary of buying a camera from them

I've even bought paper from them, and it's all been fine. When stuff was out of stock, they shipped it when it arrived, and did'nt charge me for the extra shipping.

    Ok by me.

I've used them in the past but the last time I did I had major problems with them. I blogged about it here: http://ocaoimh.ie/2005/05/24/7dayshopcom-review-and-my-bad-experience/

Also, if you buy something that breaks, the warranty might not be worth the paper it's printed on because they source stuff from outside the EU. If you're a business user it definitely doesn't pay to buy from them.

Since then I've used Pixmania, Technikdirekt, AC-foto and Warehouse Express most recently. Definitely can't recommend 7dayshop.

I bought off them before.. I think they're grand if you get the order right the first time, otherwise they can be a bit of a stress to work with! I bought 120 roll instead of 135, although I'll just adapt it for use with my dad's cam that takes 616 :D

    this sucks.
i think ill buy the damn thing from pixmania, they seem a little more reputable than 7dayshop.

is there any one else who successfully buys cameras online? would i be safer to buy from a shop in dublin?

Used them in the past without any issues. Normally for Printer Cardridges but also ordered a iRiver MP3 player from them.

Have also just ordered this http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_1&products_id=100382

The only problem I have had with them is slow delivery. Heres hoping theres no issues with my latest order.

That's pretty much reflects my experience with their "customer service", so it wasn't just me, though in my case it was a cheapo tripod, not a 20D. Their prices are good, so I've decided I'll buy small stuff, like cartridges, film etc from them, but with expensive stuff like a camera, I'd steer well clear
