    Eircom Limerick here.

Noticed some latency problems here as well.
    Did a bit of investigating.

Routing to limerick exchange is fine...
    Heading out from Limerick....
The last hop before data packets go outside Ireland slam into at least one Dublin ip(presumingly Eircom?) where there is a massive slowdown of around 200ms.
If you try tracing packets to eircom.net there's no slow down which i'm guessing is because its hosted natively and thus has no need to go through Dublin. Thus i'm thinking only packets heading overseas are getting hammered. No packet loss so non latency sensitive apps should be okay....

Eircom DNS1 (Secondary DNS seems nominal) for the South-West seems to be fluctating in performance as an added note. So maybe Eircom are up to something...?

Have a look at www.opendns.com . Solved my Bt problem .Don't see why it wouldn't do the same for eircom!
