hello, was wondering if you could help me, i have a Tevion 512mb mp3 player i bought in aldi about a year ago,its a pen drive type. well my girlfriend inherited it from me when i upgraded and now theres a problem with it.

when i switched it on it says "no MP3 files",then i plugged it in to pc,it said it needed to be formatted, i looked in manual for it, it says to format it to FAT, not FAT32, so i done that. disk was then empty so i stuck a few tracks on it, both WMA and MP3(it plays both) and yet when i turn it on it stil declares "NO MP3 FILES" and wont play any tracks, however when i plug it back in to my pc it is possible to play the tracks from the device on my pc.

any idea what to do? is it possible i could have deleted the playing function program when i formatted it or would that be saved somewhere else?

    Help me please :(

Sometimes the files need to be in a specific folder for the player to recognise them, something like /Media/Music for example. It might say in the manual somewhere.

I have that mp3 player and there is no specific folder structure. The only thing i think it could be is that the settings file is missing dont know if this matters though. Only other reason is that the tracks are drm.

appologies for sounding like a complete novice here but what do you mean drm?
i tried putting the files in a folder caller music and other names on it, someone said i need to download a utility or fireware for it.....but i havnt the first clue how to do this, any advice?

DRM is copy-protection which can prevent files from being played back on an MP3 player. This only applies to WMA files however, so as you said you also have the problem with MP3 files, I doubt this is the cause.
Where did you get the files from? Did you download them? How are you transferring them to the device?
Try ripping a CD using Windows Media Player , or the software which came with your player and then transfer it to the player. If this works, then the MP3/WMA files you mention in your posts are the problem, and not your player.

no software came with the mp3 player as it is a pen-drive style player, all that came with it was driver software for older computers ,the only reason i want to get it remedied as its handy for gym etc.
i have cleared it again and put the new bloc party album on it (ripped from a genuine cd) no joy though

It isn't that the settings file is deleted from it because i deleted it from mine and it creates another one when you play it.
The only way i can get "No Mp3 Files" on the screen is when i go in to a folder with no files in it.
Did you try putting a whole album on it in a folder, then going to navigation and pressing play at that album?
