Encyclopaedia Dramatica's Ireland

The poll is: Is the ED's entry for Ireland accurate?

    http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php/Ireland
NB: the ED is generally NSFW, though the Ireland entry is merely gratutitously in bad taste instead of pornographic.

Personally, I particularly enjoyed the sections on Art, Literature and Norn Iron.

Its a bit glass-half-empty alright but if it wasn't then it wouldn't be so funny.

    Absolutely brilliant :)

    Especially loved
In the 1960s, the Irish attempted to take over the United States by being all charming. The plot was foiled by American patriot Lee Harvey Oswald.

That's so unlike Ireland, bordering on racism and stereotyping and grossly inaccurate that I'm guessing it was written by one of the writers of Fair City.

Complete rubbish, don't like either of the poll options either tbh

I know it's a joke but it is actually quite accurate imho in many areas.

    - attitudes to alcohol
    - aesthetic benefits of immigrants
    - celtic tiger being a myth

    Classic
One glance at the plethora of grossly overweight (sometimes pregnant) women in the Capital city of Dublin, who insist on wearing belly tops designed for women vastly more attractive than themselves, is evidence enough for this.

    Nice find.

Now this is a story all about how
Saddam got hung turned upside down
Id like to take a minute chill here with me,
Ill tell you how Saddam became the fake prince of WMDs

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN western Iraq born and raised
Killin Kurds was how he spent most of his days
Chillin the palace, relaxin all cool
Raping some virgins outside by the pool
When a couple of Bushes who were up to no good
Started dropping bombs on his neighborhood
He made one little movie and cheney got all scared
And said FIND HIM AND PUT HIM ON TV BEING DRAGGED OUT OF HIS LAIR
He whistled for his trial but when it came near
The judge was UN and obviously a queer
If anything you could say that this man was ****ed
So I thought awe forget it and smoked a fat blunt
I came on irc around six or seven
Heard he was dead raping virgins in Heaven
Looked at my Kingdom, said goodbye to Saddam
To sit on my Throne the Fresh Prince of your mom

    Brilliant.lol

Didnt even crack a smile reading it. I could write funnier myself. It's rambling and grammatically painful to read.

That was funny. It even funnier reading the responses saying it was crap. Are we no longer able to laugh at ourselves?

I'd be the first to laugh if it was remotely funny. Its just a collection of old stereotypes thats poorly written with some swearing for effect.

    Complete rubbish.

We're a nation of such sophistication and artistry that people flock to our shores to get away fron such anti-anglo drink binges. I mean when was the last time you saw anyone wearing a green overcoat or orange beard in temple bar? When was the last time you saw a teenager in a miniskirt getting sick in the streets of our fair capital? When was the last time you saw a nude painting or sculpture and not think "****ing perv"...?

It just doesn't happen, does it?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Population

4.2 Million Approx. The Irish population has swelled in recent years due to immigration, which has reversed the historical trend of every Irish person running for the exits in a mad dash to escape the moribund economy, hidebound Catholicism, poxy weather, and general soul-crushing spiritless attitude to life that consitutes the Irish character. Population analysts infer that if immigration continues at it's present rate, by 2010, the average Irish person will be 23% more intelligent, good-looking, hard-working, and sober than they are today.

    Excellent.

I find the Uncyclopedia to be more of that ineffable internet strain of enforced "zaniness". Y'know, like the Cuckoo's nest in wiki format.

"ZOMFG I IS TEH CRAZEE I NOES NON SEKWETTERS".

I can imagine the average Uncyclopedia contributor having at least 4 pairs of novelty socks. Reading Uncyclopedia is like being stuck in a lift with someone who thought that Chuck Norris facs were funny for more than 10 minutes, and will continue to remind you of this.

Whereas ED is a bit more scabrous towards horrible internet phenomena such as the entire membership of LiveJournal and crypto-paedophilic ainme fans.

In summation: ED = Uncyclopedia - (forced kerayzeeness) + bile.

Hardly worth the effort that's put into it. About two decent laughs from that entry. Such obviously forced humour and spite aimed towards one's own country gets tiresome.
