And the award for wishful thinker of the years goes to :p
I knew before I read your post that there would be 3 certainties:
    Utd not to win
    L'pool to win
    Chelsea to win

BTW - still waiting for the rationale for pool winning the league this year ;)

    Early game team news

Liverpool - Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Agger, Gerrard, Aurelio, Alonso, Bellamy, Crouch, Kuyt.
Subs - Dudek, Riise, Fowler, Guthrie, Pennant.

either thats Finnan on the wing with 3 man attack or Bellamy wide right.

    Mike.

afaik Kuyt used to play wide right sometimes in Holland

Bah, off-side goal. Watford dodgy at the back.

I'm also wondering what the exact formation is, can someone elaborate when they get the chance.

I hope its 4-4-2, as indicated below, and not a 4-3-3:

    Reina
    Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Agger
    Bellamy, Alonso, Gerrard, Aurelio
    Crouch, Kuyt

A reasonable formation, although Agger as left back would not be my preferred choice. I woud have put Agger in the centre replacing Hyypia and put Riise at left back.

If Bellamy is being played at right midfield it will be interesting to see how he gets on there and the effect on the team. Its something I wanted to see being tried at least and I've suggested it on here before. Aurelio is lght enough but should be able to do a job against Watford and hopefully will get a chance to put away a free kick.

He didnt really. He played as a striker, playing off. He was tried as a winger for Holland in the world cup but that didnt come off.

I'm looking forward to a safe bread and butter win today, a simple 2-0. 3 pts are what matter and a comfortable win.

Its 3 up front Red, listening to fivelive Finnan and Aurelio are meant to be offering width but its reckoned they are too slow to get forwards. The game is being played at half-speed.

    Mike.

    oh oh ....

I'v just heard on the radio that Liverpool are playing a NEW formation, a 3-4-3. Finnan must be playing up and it might be something like this:

    Reina
    --- Carragher, Hyypia, Agger ---
    Finnan, Alonso, Gerrard, Aurelio
    --- Bellamy, Crouch, Kuyt

Yikes, I dont like the look of that. Too many central defenders, and agaisnt Watford.

Benitez is not acting rationally. If he wanted to experiment, why didnt he try a game that doesnt matter, which by his own admission would have been the Carling Cup match against Arsenal.

Although Watford is also a good team to experiment against, isnt the premiership our priority now, should we not win the game first and then experiment in the last 15 mins or so.

    Why drop the better 4-4-2?
Which top team is playing with 3 central defenders ???? None!

hmmmmmm ..... Benitez this week is trying my patience.

A major gaff on Wed, and now this tomfoolery ..... who does he think he's kidding!

So out of their last 7 Premiership games Liverpool have: W6 D0 L1 F16 A1

Thus making them the most in form team in the premiership. Pigheads no Liverpool fan but some of the Rafa bashers this week should really look at the bigger picture.

Problem is, the games that Liverpool need to win to get the premiership, they still aren't winning. They aren't winning the away games against mid table to top sides, and they aren't beating the top teams.
Yes over the last 7 games, they have done well, but it has been probably their easiest run of games this season,

    Wigan A - 4-0 Win
    Fulham H - 4-0 Win
    Charlton A - 3-0 Win
    Watford H - 2-0 Win
    Blackburn A - 1-0 Loss
    Spurs A - 1-0 Win
    Bolton H - 3-0 Win
    Watford A - 3-0 Win

The only result there that really shows Rafa is improving the team is the Spurs result, and bar the Bolton win, all the other games you'd really expect Liverpool to win comfortably.

By your logic BOTH Spurs and Bolton results show an improvment! Anyway the form guide shows Liverpool have lost one league game in the last 10 as it happens

    Pathetic villa defending

Again we see the very worst of footballers who cant use their supposed "wrong" foot for something as simple as hoofing the ball out of the box. Cahill for Villa has the ball up in front of him in the perfect place to volley it well out of danger decides to come across it with his left to slice a ball straigh to tpark for 1-0.

    2-0 Carrick.

Bit of a way to go yet F2B, but if we continue this form, the others will find it though to catch up.

Don't think Villa are particularly awful, they are playing true to their overall quality and true to their league position. United just have the players to create chances at ease.

Interesting alright. He's only got 2 goals this season, both against his ex clubs.

The Villa defending is utterly shocking. But fair play to United, you can only beat what is in front of you and boy are they doing that.

Seeing as they've won the game already I'd love to see them absolutely whallop them 7-0 or something.
