Direct Debit Form

Not sure if this belongs in business as it's kind of general???

Can anyone find a direct debit form on the AIB site? I've been trying to find one, but no luck. I just want to pay somebody x amount monthly. I know it can be done with the online banking, but the person is non-technical so would like to see it in writing.

Is there a generic form that's used for all banks or do they each have specific forms relative to that bank? Is there a specific name for the type of form I'm looking for? Is it a direct debit form for outward payments from my account?

    Cheers

    Should be here :)

I'm not sure there is one on the website. If this is not a payment to a business then you are looking for a standing order form (not a direct debit) whcih can be arranged online or through a branch.

If you have set up your account for internet banking then go to "transfer money", and click standing orders - this is to set up DD. I'm not sure if you can print that page when your finished, don't know if this helps.

    Cheers!

It's money for rent, so it's not business related for me, but probably is for the landlord:confused: The landlord asked me to get a Direct Debit form anyway...?

Unless the landlord has his properties registered under a company name (very doubtful) then a standing order is the way to go. Lots of people confuse the two.

You should be able to print the screen when you are finished setting up the standing order online. If there is no print button just either do a screen grab (CTRL + PtrScr) or try printing directly using CTRL + P :)

The difference is that for a DD you're effectively giving permission to somebody else to take money from your bank account at regular intervals, whereas for a standing order, you're in control and you pay the money from your account into his, and can stop it at any time. I thought only big companies used DD, I don't think an individual can set up one.

I thought for a second this was someone requesting a direct debit forum...

well I have signed a contract that I would be paying x amount every month so would that be giving permission anyway?

Just check my online account and I do have the standing order option. I don't see anything about direct debit.

It probably is just a standing order they are looking for and just thought they were the same thing.

If they are looking for DD, would my local branch have both a DD form and a standing order form? Landlord asked me to bring the form the day I go to get the keys.

How about phoning the landlord and asking if he meant a Direct Debit or Standing order form...I imagine his answer will be "So long as I get the cash I don't f****** care" :)
