Wii Ad-Hoc

Sorry if this has been asked before.....but I've set up an ad-hoc network with
my windows machine (has ethernet and wifi, connects to the net via ethernet).
Myself and my friends can all connect to this machine just fine over wireless
with our laptops, but the Wii can't. It detects the SSID of the network but after
setting up and testing the connection it reports "Cannot find SSID" or something
like that. I heard that the Wii can't connect to ad-hoc networks. Is this true?
Or if not, is it something I'm doing wrong?
