As I can't see to find a health forum I am not sure where to post this.

I want to know if anyone knows where you can get a full health check done. I know the Matter Private will do it for about €500 but is there anywhere else?

An NCT for the body really!

speak to your GP s/he should be able to do it. Interesting that you described it as a nct for the body, as here in Glasgow they've been pushing "MOT's" for Men for some time

Your GP can arrange this - I do it once a year.
It'll be a damn sight cheaper than going to the Mater Private too.

can they check for everything from heart to hips etc?

Just tell them what you want checked & why. They'll be able to arrange the tests if they think that it is necessary. That's why the "why" is important.

Depends on your age and what you want, if your under 40 a typical mot type check should include
Physical examination which should include blood pressure checks, height and weight.
    Cholesterol (test for cardiovascular disease)
Blood glucose (to test for diabetes) if you have high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Skin examination (screening for skin cancer)
    Self-examination of testicles for lumps.
    Immunisation review every 10 years.

if your over 50 same as above with the addition of
    ECG (heart trace)
    Test for diabetes
    Screening for bowel cancer
    Prostate checks annually.
    Bone density test

These are just suggested you really need to discuss it with your GP, more so as your in Ireland and will have to pay for it and theres no point in paying for unnecessary checks

I had a full health check done about 3 years ago I cant remember the exact details but they covered a staggering about of stuff.

It cost ~€150, I forget the name of the place but it was a doctors at the end of Grafton Street on the same side of the road has habitat only more towards grafton St.

How much is the MOT in the Beacon?

They are all in and around the same price. If you go onto the BUPA website you can get details. Mine cost me €340 less the 50%. No massive surprise that I didn't know about and a big long report on everything. IMO good to do if you are not inclined to visit the GP annually.

What about a place like that geezer goes to in SuperSize Me?
Where they check his blood and stuff to see what he's deficient in.
And maybe also set you down with a nutritionist.
Is there a place like that in town?

I had blood test done in my BUPA health check. The results included

    - Diabetes
    -Cholesterol
    - Kidneys
    - Iron Check

Nutritionists/Dietitians are attached to major hospitals and some public clinics. Check with GP on that.
