jayus ... the mod at Fredmiranda removed the post on the 7d ... I can see why ... Ken Rockwell was taking a hammering ... anyways ... I'm not waiting for any 7d!

Kenrockwell doesn't say very much about it. Also Nikon are rumored to be introducing full frame this year. Be interesting to see the price compared to the 5D or 7D.

Why is he looking for money on every page you visit on his site

Well judging by the emotions he is arousing amongst forum members at Fred Miranda .... he is not thought of very highly ... they must've canned the thread for this reason ...

Valentia loves him all the same, he's very popular up in Trim I hear.

    Drat,drat and double drat

To be honest though, I'm glad I bought my 5D when I did - There's some shots I'd never have gotten with my old gear, and it really puts no limits on your learning curve...besides, why would you ever want more than 16mp...and like...

    :(

You can't legislate for this ... you did the right thing buying when you did ... this wait for the new one attitude leads to nothing being purchased

    More Rumors:

On this forum, predictions are that Canon will intro 2 new bodies 3D & 7D similar to the way they approached film bodies ... when, if & spec? who knows really, just wait for the PMA announcements every Feb!

Most likely new entries are the 40D and one of the pro bodies 1D MIII??

Generally Canon has a 18 month upgrade model on the amature models, 300D, 350D, 400D, 20D, 30D ... but can't say much about the pro models (out of my league)... anyone hazard a guess on PMA '07? for the crack like!

and the good old rumor mill keeps on turnin' and turnin'

    Personally, I think I'll be waiting for a 4Dv MKIV R...

    :(

I don't think you have anything to fear, Rockwell talks out his arse an awful lot, a bit like myself. No one likes gossip and rumour more than me but I've learned to take it all with a pinch (handful of salt). I was about to get a 5 d myself yesterday when I saw the prices in Gunns and I was well aware of these threads then, I could link to a host more of them but, let's face it I may as well be predicting the outcome of a horse race.
One of the horses (rumours) will win, but which one is anybodies guess.
I expect it might be announced in March, 2007

    A boy Ken

Besides everybody knows that a P&S is better than the 5D anyway!

never heard of this guy before ,but i think these two links are funny

Here he is saying ,imagination is important and ignore the equipment
    http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Ken_Rockwell/

This page nikon users are furious at his description of a nikon camera
    http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1021&message=15720576

He sounds quite funny ,are all nikon users this special ?

LOL. Just in case anyone didn't get the irony. Ken Rockwell is a GOBDAW!!!!!

I'm off to NY in March and it's looking like the 5D will be the boy I'll bring home. After looking at Fajitas' fabulous work how could you not be convinced? FreeAnd has also helped with that decision. I'm also tempted to get a 30D or new 40D. I'd like the 1.6 crop for photographing faraway puffins and white tailed eagles, when they come back, with a telephoto.

Its still cheaper to get it from HK even if going to see our Jewish friends on 420 9th Avenue

    It's €2151 at B&H collected without rebates.

    DigitalRev: €2136 +£40 shipping + £20 shippong insurance(Required) [that's pounds].

    URGalaxy: €2121 = £38 shipping + £28 shipping insurance (an extra €114)

Plus the higher risk of duty and vat. It's easy enough bring stuff in from the states on the plane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,735 ✭✭✭mikeanywhere

I can them cheaper than that by a few quid from Keaphoto. Ok, the risk of the VAT etc is there but its still worth it

My thinking would have been the same Mike up until recently. I notice on other threads that customs are becoming more diligent (the hoors!). ON PI someone mentioned that one of the HK big boys wrote back saying that they had suspended shipments to Ireland :( I think it was DigitalRev he was referring to.
