    Friends;

    I am kind of new here in Ireland; and I keep hearing about SSIA accounts; but still the idea is not that much clear to me; I am looking for a simple and clear answers here before going to the bank

    What is the SSIA?
    Is it only for Irish??
    What is needed to open an SSIA account??
    Is there a relation between the SSIA and the employment status or the salary?
    ...etc

    Regards

    I'm afraid that access to the SSIA closed in 2002.

    SSIA stands for Special Savings Incentive Account.
    For every €4 contributed by the saver the Irish Government contributed €1
    A maximum contribution of £200 was allowed at the time (approx €253,95)

    Please see here
