    Hey,

Just wondering where's the best place to advertise a job? (That is apart from here on lovely boards.ie ;) )

Its a part-time admin role in the city centre, and my boss has basically said to me go out and find someone, without giving me money to spend.

So I guess the title should read - best (free) place to advertise vacancy?

    Cheers!

Some of the colleges and Universities have free places to post jobs

    e.g. UCC : http://www.ucc.ie/careers/

You boss told you to simply go out and find someone, eh?

That's a bit odd (and lazy on his/her part). what you need to do is go back to your boss and say, in order to get someone you need to advertise, and advertising costs money... so get him/her quotation for advertising in papers or on local radio etc. And see if you can get soem money from your boss to put towards it.

I would take what Memphis is staying one step further.. accuse your boss of gross incompetence and tell him in making such an error he should resign immediately, then offer him a part time admin role

Did that this afternoon, the Herald and loadzajobs.ie did a 'deal' for me. Gonna go with that and just hand him the bill afterwards :)

Exactly, the way to handle it. Hope all works out for ya. Good luck with it!

And to reply to Flat's smart comment above, I wouldn't go so far as to say the boss was incompetant and shgould resign, however I would say that it was a bit lazy of him, and what he was asking of connundrum, was a wee bit unprofessional, and not explained and lead in a manner that a boss should!

Anyway, enough ranting... I could spend teh day complaining about bsses, and their (sometimes) stupidity, and lack of clarity in there requests.
