    hello all,
a workmate is trying to get a used passenger 4X4. he is convinced that some passenger 4X4s have commercial tax because of something to do with load capacity. is there any truth to this?
if so, is it possible to insure it privately?

I think it is something along the lines that you have to have more load capacity then seating capacity. I'm pretty sure there was a thread about it here in motors a month or two back?

If he insures it privately he won't be classed as a commercial. He'll pay the same tax as a regular 4x4.

    PS. I think.

some passenger machines (like the Land Cruiser VX or Kia Sedona) were taxed as crewcabs because after a conversion their load space met the (then) minimum volume rerquirements.
