Canon Extra Promotion Nonsense

So a few months ago I applied for the Canon Extra promotion for a book of vouchers for cash back on Canon lenses and speedlites etc. The voucher finally arrived today, which was nice because I totally forgot about it and I was considering getting a speedlite. But low and behold the promotion ended on the 31 of December 2006 even tho the vouchers were posted on the 8th of January.

So has anyone else here received their pretty much useless cash back vouchers?

Goes to email Canon an angry letter...

Have they not extended the promotion to the end of February ?

As far as i can make out, the promtion ends at the end of december (meaning you have to buy before then) but you have till the end of january to send away the vouchers

Its a shame I thought this would make up for the price harmonizing that Canon did at the start of the year. I'd even gladly give many of the vouchers away to others here as I'd only use one or two. (a speedlite and the EF-S 60mm macro which I saw fairly cheaply in Germany over Christmas)

My voucher booklet arrived today aswell. I applied for it 2-3 months ago. I'm dam annoyed about it. I had given up on it receiving it. I was waiting to get the vouchers before buying so it is useless to me now.

Is this a calculated move on Canon's part? Maybe to annoy their customers...

    Don't forget to recycle folks.
Any idea where the books came from? Canon often use third party companies to manage their promotions/rebates etc.

jaysus ... Canon are really making a determined effort to get rid of their customers ... I only wish I had not bought a few expensive pieces of glass last year or I'd be upgrading to Nikon ...

From the envelope it traveled from as far a field as Tipp town. I could have collected it myself.

I thought them vouchers were for the benefit of people who actually bought stuff to get them?

Hey lads, don't panic. You have until the 31st January to claim. It's all in the small print.

Yeah if I had received some confirmation that I would be receiving the vouchers before the deadline I would now be the happy owner of the 60mm Macro lens and a speedlite becase I spent Christmas over in Germany drooling at their cheaper toys.

Anyway the voucher list with cash backs are as follows:

    EF 300mm f/4L IS USM (€150)
    EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM (€150)
    10 x 42L IS WP binoculars (€150)
    EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM (€100)
    EF 17-40mm f/4L USM (€100)
    EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM (€100)
18x50 IS All Weather binoculars (€100)
    EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM (€50)
    Speedlite 580EX (€50)
    EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM (€50)
    Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX (€50)
    10x30 IS binoculars (€50)
    Extender EF 1.4x II (€50)
    Extender EF 2x II (€50)

If anyone wants one PM me and I'll post it to you. Hopefully someone gets something from this.
