    6 left and 3 tickets available. 3 big stacks -> 20K,25K and 28 K and 3 small stacks - all less than 10 K

Villian is solid and has not gotten out of line, has been pretty active but not shown down any bad hands.....

    Hand 1

I am in Mid position with 25K, blinds are 400 800. I look down and see A A.

I raise 2400, big stack (28K) to my left calls everyone else folds....

    Flop: Q 5 3 rainbow......

    I check (comments?)
    Villian bets 2,400
I re-raise to 7,200 (was happy to finish it as i didn't want to tangle with the only person who could put me out..)
    Villian calls....

    turn Q 5 3 [Q]

    I check villian bets 10K

    I....?

    Hand 2

    I have about 18K, 3rd in chips. Dealt Q Q on the BB blinds still 400 800

Villian (about 35K) limps SB completes, I raise to 2400.

    Villian calls SB folds.

    Folp A 7 7.

    I check...

    Villian Pots....

    I.....?

    All comments appreciated......

First one is a fold for me, I probably reraise more on the flop though, At least reraise pot size imo.

Second hand I push, I couldnt see the villain potting it in this situation with a good ace. I look to take it down here, I dont really think it matters hat hand you are holding as I think he only calls with hands that are beating you, unless he figures 88-JJ is good.

Hand 1: I bet 5K on the flop, if called and we see the 2nd Q I probably check/fold.
If my 5K flop bet if reraised I probably call but fold to a bet on the turn.
(I know this is going to be considered weak to very weak play but I hope to learn like the OP from the robust replies).

    Hand 2: I like shoutman's line here (I think).
However, I would be slow to get stacked with the Ace on board when I am in a ticket position.
(Again maybe too conservative, interest in replies).

Therefore, a raise of 4 - 5 times the BB is better IMO. It makes it impossible for a big stack to call with anything random in the hope of outflopping / playing you

it makes your raise look like a more blatant "feck off" steal - thus disguising your actual strength.
these two points are contradictory imo.
on one hand you are saying they wont call as its a big raise
on the other you are saying it looks weak.
    please clairfy what you mean.

    hand 1:
A horribe fold although again I agree with a bigger raise pre-flop raise.

    hand 2:
disagree with the push. If he is willing to call your raise with A x then he'll call a flop bet even if it is a push.
Better to put a bet out there to find out if he has an A. If he calls check it down if poss and if he raises fold.
I see too many players ( myself included) holding on too tightly to hands like QQ when an A hits the flop.

Also from a different point is 3BB your raise for a big hand ? If so randomise your raising more.
Nothing wrong (espeically in HAND 1 as you are close to a ticket) to put in a chunky raise. No point putting a ticket at risk.

any reads? EDIT: sorry missed the first line.

by raising you are doing exactly what you are trying to avoid, is he folding a Q? You are raising 1/3 of your remaining stack. Call the flop. check fold the turn. You want to keep the pot as small as possible. Again you should be leading the flop here. If he raises you reevaluate your position

Hand 2: why arent you leading the flop? without any reads, im folding now that i havent lead the flop.

    Wow some dodgy advice here.

Hand 1: lead flop and get it all in on flop. Turn decision depends on the villain but folding seems just about ok.

Hand 2: check/fold flop is fine. Leading flop makes no sense and check-raising all in is pretty damn awful.

why is leading so bad? often the big stack will have a very wide range. i think 4k bet takes this down enough.

the big stack is going to bluff so much if its checked to him.

i agree with hand1 if we get the chance to get it allin on the flop. on turn its a fold i think

    Tricky spots..

Hand 1: I dont check flop, lead for 3,500. Obviously then if he raises and I'm sure he is calling an all-in I push.

As played out I hate the check with the intention of check raising. Your folding alot of Q10 QJ hands here usually possibly KQ depending on the player..What do you mean you "dont want to tangle" with the only one who can do you damage of course you do..you have Aces - you are dying to tangle with the only player who can double you up and give you a great chance to win the tournament...

Its a sick turn. I probably fold..

Hand 2: I dont mind check calling the flop. Then check and reassess the turn.

    Well,

In the end I folded both....
Cheers for advice...basically hand1 - Lead the flop....Hand 2 check fold is ok?

I think I was a bit negative in hand 1, maybe overcompensating for it being a 3 ticket tournie as opposed to a normal tournie where I would have been gunning for big stacks chips to win the thing....
