Lansdowne Rd Documentary - help needed

    Hi

I'm currently in the middle of making a radio documentary about Lansdowne Rd to mark the demise of the old stadium. I'm hoping that the documentary will be a nostalgic look back at some of the moments that individual fan's will remember most about the old stadium long after it is gone. It's going to be purely about the different experiences that rugby fans had in Lansdowne Rd and what it meant to them. Now that might be being in attendance when Ireland won any of the three triple crown's or a particularly memorable game against England or whatever, but it also could be your first game against whoever when the important thing was not necessarily the game or the result but your experience and the memories you took from it.

The reason that I am posting this here is that I am hoping to find some fan's from boards to take part in the documentary. So what is your most memorable moment from Lansdowne Rd? What will you remember most about the place long after it has been demolished?

I have been reading this forum for a while, and for the most part you guys seem to be very knowledgeable rugby fan's so I hope that some people who post here might be interested in taking part. If you are you can either PM me or just reply to this thread and we can take it form there.

    Thanks.

I remember dancing with joy in the rain in Nov '02 after O'Gara kicked 6 pens vs Burkes 3 for us to beat Australia 18-9. A fairly unremarkable performance I'm sure, and not something we'd be happy with in this new era, but the delight was something else on the East Terrace that day!

January 1969, my first time in the ground, goal line seats at the lansdowne road end, Johnny Moroney scores 14 points as we beat France 17-9. I'm sure I still have the programme somewhere!

Thanks for the replies Trojan and Hippo. I have sent you both a PM so go check that and we can take it from there if you would like.

There must be more people in this thread though that have good memories of Lansdowne Rd? Come on people this is your chance to take part in a great project and get your voice on the radio!

Hope to hear from more of you soon!

I remember going to see Ireland Vs. The Barbarians in lansdowne in 2000 I think - was about 14, and we were winning. Then Neil Jenkins came on, and it was unbelievable -that leg of his was pure magic. We lost in the end thanks to Humphs missing a penalty iirc, but it was just an amazing game to watch - was back in the day when Lomu would walk over most opposition wingers, but he never managed it on us that day....
