I'm going to be taking a longish trip to the USA (and maybe central America) in October/November and will probably do a few internal flights too. Has anyone ever looked at trends in flight prices? When is the best time to book? The Google Gods have failed me on this one :D

    Thanks

Generally, the earlier, the better is the rule of thumb

but do airlines not generally have cheaper deals at the start of their 3 month cycles (vaguely remember a pilot friend telling me something about this)? For example aer Lingus at the moment have cheap flights up to march but a month ago they were more expensive?

We're doing a skim of Canada/USA in June for three weeks, but were advised to book immediately when we researched quotes back in November.

Our intinerary involves flights into and out of Canada and 4 internal flights between Canada and USA.
