Toe nail falling off?

A few months ago some one jumped on my foot on a night out. I got a bit of a bruise under my toe nail but nothing too bad and it didn't hurt after the first 5 minutes. But now as it's growing out and getting closer to the top of my toe the nail seems to be raising and there's a crack forming just behind where the bruise is.

So it's looking like the top half of my nail might fall off within the next few weeks or months. I don't want to go to a podiatrist if it would be the equivalent of going to my GP with a head cold. So I'm just wondering if this is worthy of medical attention or if sticking a plaster over it for the next few months in an attempt to stop it falling off would suffice.

    Thanks

Sorry mate, but you shouldn't ask questions like that here.
