just been checking this company out online and seeing what they provide. It all looks very impressive as you would expect. Anyone have any thoughts or info on them from experience? Or is it possible to somewhat future proof etc ones house without them and instead employ an electrician who maybe be into this area instead

    Cheers

I haven't had experience with them, but I agree the website looks pretty good.

I've another related post on this forum here.

It depends on your own or your electrician's experience, but here's the comments I would make:

May be difficult to get an electrician with the requisite IT/networking skills. You really need to just tell them the specific power requirements and any conduits for wiring.

Certainly difficult/expensive to hire the IT skills to make this happen - may be useful to talk to some tech-savvy person you know to advise. Or post on this forum.

I think it would be preferable to have local expertise for installed equipment, for quicker fix, and potentially cheaper support costs. In any case, I don't really want to be dependent on something I don't understand and can't fix, so I'll be looking after anything I put in to my home.

Smarthomes are operating in the space between construction and technology - that's where their value-add is. Personsally, I'm using their website as a menu of potential features I want ot put in my home. Budget will dictate what actually goes in.
