If both are (wireless) routers, yes, you only need 1 off them for a 'normal' network

A bit more info would be nice. (Model numbers, etc).
Is your current netopia a wireless or wired (USB/Ethernet) model?
Is the Linksys wired or wireless?
Is the Linksys just a router or has it an in-built modem?

If the Linksys is just a router you still need to use the Netopia aswell but if it is a modem aswell, then it's direct replacement for the Netopia.
