Why are RTE TV Theme Tunes So Awful?

The Late Late Show - Cheesy cheap crap thanks to Ray Harmon from Something Happens!
I actually heard someone with it as their ringtone walking down the street - I nearly threw my phone at them!

The worst has to be Show Me The Money - jesus it's awful!

I'm sure there's loads more anyone got any?

actually the panel even though it uses the stone roses which is a tune i love dosnt work!! it just dosnt fit the show, its like the producers thought "this will be cool to keep up with the kids" sort of thing.

You do know that that song was realsed in 1992? So they'd hardly be attracting the youngsters now considering most of them wouldn't have been born. The more likely reason for using the song would be that the Producers of the show would've been in their teens to early 20's around '92.

Hey don't knock the Harmon.
Can't say their theme tunes keep me up at night. *shrugs*

What do you expect - its RTE :rolleyes:

A few years ago they had the "traditional" entrance music for The Sunday Game, but decided to change it for a sterile tribal thing that is just sh1t, IMO.

Same with the World Cup coverage last Summer - they decided to have an italian opera for a tournament in Germany (unless they had inside information on who was going to win the tournament )

The decline and fall of The Late Late intro is tragic frankly. The original was like a call to arms the current is lift muzak. Most of RTEs horror themes (Murphys Micro-QuizM anyone?) suffer from being composed with a basic midi palette of sounds and no attempt at production values.

Everything about RTE is amateurish. They probably have no money but I guess it is more to do with the personalities there. If you only have a 2d personality then how can you think 3d?
