    Hey..

I'm thinking about getting myself an lcd hdtv tv. My room is a bit on the small side so I think this would save me a lot of space (thats my excuse anyhow :D). Thing is, while I fully intend getting a Wii eventually I have a gamecube sitting here with about a dozen top notch games which I never got through. So I figure I have to get through them before ever going near a Wii. So I ask you this. What is the picture quality like when playing a nintendo GC using a GC component cable hooked up to a hdtv. I read somewhere that I really should be getting a digital cable for my gc but my gc doesn't support it unfortunately. Also, what lcd's do ye guys recommend in terms of brand names and sizes. I'm trying to decide between 23", 26" or 32". Is the 23" sufficient to play games on? Bear in mind I just want something that sits well in a corner. I don't want anything huge.

Ive never actually seen a hdtv under 32'' but maybe they are there
anyways I got a 32'' htdv which is panosonic and i defintly wouldnt call it huge
I play my wii on it with the cable supplied with it
at 1st I was playing zelda on it and thought it was kind of grainy but it mostly turned out to be the game as once I got out into hyrule field the graphics just seemed to improve somewhat
also got call of duty 3 and it looks amazing on the tv

The GC cable I have is not the one that comes supplied with it. It's 100% scart. It's not 3 phono plugs connected to a scart adapter so I think the picture quality is supposed to be better. Have you played GC games on your Wii? How do they look. I was initially planning on getting a 32" but after seeing the 23" and 26" in town I thought they were quite adequate.

Yes ive played gc games on the wii and they look exactly the same as the do on the gc on the same tv, no problems there

I suppose the smaller the tv the better a wii game will look (apparently they look best on crt tv's) but in saying that im very happy with how mine looks on a 32''

cool, btw when playing on a hdtv is the gc game in widescreen? how about wii games, i assume they are in widescreen.

i have a 26 lcd samsung hd tv and a gc
with all cables ( scart ,av composite) quality will be poor
with the component cable its excellent but as far as i know u do need the digital port at the back for it and this cables are mad expensive too since they have been out of production.

How do you find the 26" tv. Is it big enough? Would you prefer a bigger version? I think i'll wait till I get a wii before investing in a component cable.

qbot i think its big enough
but in the end it depends on the size of the room.
obviously the bigger the size the better but i wouldnt be able to enter my room otherwise :)
i wouldnt know if the component cable for the wii is the same as the gc

No, component cables for Wii and Gamecube are different (different connections on the consoles themselves).

Running a GC on a 32" LCD myself but have the component cable, wouldn't look great with the other connections. Did you check Play-Asia for the cable? Of course you could always get a Wii :) Nothing stopping you from playing your GC games on it (unless they're imports).

Ya, well I plan on getting a wii eventually. My gc doesn't have the digital out so i can't get the component cable. Does the gc use widescreen when u use your component cable?

hd under 32" is barely noticable, only at bigger sizes do you notice it, save you money and get a bigger lcd non hd
