    Hey guys

The thread with all the great snaps people took last year was inspiring. :)
Iv'e always had an interest in Photography, and since I bought my mam a digital cam for xmas, Iv'e used it more than she has :D

So I reckon it's time (A great time too, start of a new year)

That I get myself my first camera! Looking for advice on what to look for.
Digital obviously, price range your looking at 250-400€ max.

If anyone can help me out, I'd really appriciate it.

I'd recommend the camera that I have, the Canon A710 IS. It's relatively cheap, and will let you improve your piccie taking from Program mode all the way to Manual mode. Tons of features and very robust, and the pics are awesome.

    Thanks Helios,
That is the one price area that I was not able to account for
    in my new thread.:)

I'd go with a FUJI FINEPIX S5600 as it can be used on full auto but has some features that are SLR like, it also has a 10x zoom. At €300 its a good camera for the money.

The Nikon D40 is around E420...you get an dSLR though for just 20 euro extra!

The D40 would be a very good buy, but I thought that with the 18-55 (new version) its around the £400 (stg) mark ?

Sure if you buy from HK. But in Irish shops around 650 mark.

Yes in Irish Shops it is 650.

But I for one always try to encourage people
to buy from the HK shops.

Then they can put the money they save against
a better lens, camera bag, UV filter or memory etc.

I have bought my entire kit from these guys and
    saved about 800euro.
Trust me, it is worth it. :)
