Oh trust me, there's plenty in Ireland. Way too many.

    Becoming one, sell your soul.

    Where are you based?

Nope, thank god - It's more than just another job...You have to learn how to use a camera and whatnot. Learn what works in a photo, apply to image stock agencies, and spend a long time working your way up the ranks.

it is an idea to do while at college doing tv production... only thing is you cant follow a person around with a big camera... tv channels dont want it.....

Would be a difficult thing to break into I'd say, Ireland is not exactly brimming with 'celebs'. Paparazzi come in many shapes and forms, some walk by day and others by night...
If you're going down the night route, a camera that handles high iso settings, auto focuses fast in low light levels. I'm not too sure do many paps use flash these days, but I'd say a fairly hefty flash head would come in handy for those times when remaining hidden isn't important.
During the day, long fast lenses would be v useful to have. Either way a stack of cash is needed for gear.

A working relationship with bouncers, hotel staff (concierges) etc would also stand to you, but I'd say everyone in that industry would be looking for their 'cut of the action'
