As the title states looking for a competent mechanic that does a good job for a decent price around the south county dublin area, preferably in Stillorgan,Blackrock,Goatstown areas, any help appreciated, i checked the stickys and couldnt get anything more than names of mechanics but no mention of good or bad etc.

    Thanks

ISA Motors in Blackrock (2883914) - Niall is the owners name, top bloke.

He was recommended to me a few years ago by a friend, have been using him ever since and recommended him to a few other people - never been unhappy with service nor price (well other than the time my head gasket blew - but that was my own fault :o ).

Countrywise why the big panic !! what type of car have you got and what mileage is on it

I have a Seat, there is 53,800 miles on it and it was due at 50,000, im normally good at getting things like that changed but on the maintenance book it looked like the timing belt was due at 59,000 but i realise it was bad hand writing and its actually well over due

Unless your planning on doing a thousand miles a week or so I wouldn't worry too much about having to wait a few weeks Countrywise. Although obviously it's a very good idea to get your TB done right when it's due it's very unlikely you'll see any problems arising from going 4 or 5 thousand past the recomended milage for a change. The manufacturers take into account that people will not always change the parts on there cars when there supposed to so they allow for a fair amount of redundancy. I've seen dozens of cars 10,000 or more over due without any problems.

Cool i feel a little more relaxed hearing that, a couple of people i know had it go on them and it ended up quite costly, then again there cars were not exactly new
