€150 Monthly

    Hi All,

I was thinking about running the same game as my Xmas Festival on a monthly basis starting late Feb early March.

There will be some small changes as it will be a one day tournie and not 2 day. I will be doing my best to make sure that it doesn't clash with either SE €220 monthly or GJP's €250 monthly.

    Any thoughts?

Hi JP, that 150 game was a really good tournament.
What made it was the structure, I know you'll need to tweak things a little, but try your best to keep it as slow as possible.

At the last game, the field was made up of a lot of very loose pub players which makes a slow clock very important.

Its a tough move too have a slow structure that will draw the numbers and a comp that finishes at a reasonable time. What about a Saturday game with an early start like 4 p.m. etc to provide sufficient playtime.

I was thinking about running it on a Sunday with an early start 4pm at the latest, possibly 3pm with 1 table SnG's from earlier.

Saturdays are hard to book Hotels, for example the next Saturday the Plaza Hotel is available is 17th March Paddys Day. So i think its going to have to be run on a Sunday !

Sunday it is then, either 1/2 weeks after GJP...Sundays work for them with a 2 kick off...

    Hi all,

I've been in touch with John from the SE and Mike from GJP as i don't want to clash with their games.

The SE game is on the 1st Saturday of the month
The GJP game is the 2nd Sunday of the month.

I was thinking along the lines of the last Sunday of the month. I will be meeting with the Plaza to see available dates going forward but thats my prefered date.

I think i'm going to leave the structure the same as the Xmas festival but have a 2pm start. Because it will be such a long structure i will have to limit it to about 150 players, with 1 table SnG's from 12.30pm. There may be 1 or 2 small changes to ensure it ends at a reasonable hour. My other option would be to lower the starting stack to 8k

    But heres the blind structure

    25/50
    50/100
    75/150
    100/200
    150/300

    10 min break

    200/400
    300/600
    400/800
    500/1000
    600/1200

    35 min dinner break

    800/1500
    1000/2000
    1000/2000 +100
    1500/3000 +100
    2000/4000 +200

    10 min break

    2500/5000 +200
    3000/6000 +300
    4000/8000 +400
    5000/10000 +500
    6000/12000 +600

    10 Min break

    7500/15000 +700
    10000/20000 +1000
    12500/25000 +1000
    15000/30000 +1500
    20000/40000 +2000
    25000/50000 +2500

    Any Thoughts?

    Hi JP

Sounds good. I think Saturday 2pm was a great starting time for the PPP500 game in the SE. With that structure it I think you will get a lot of takers. Not sure about sunday with a late finish.

No doubt I'll play no matter what.

I'd be keen after your last excellent tourney. Saturday would possibly be better then Sunday because some of the "white-collar" workers might be concerned the tourney would run late (at least i would). I think this is one reason why the GJP monthly numbers have dwindled a bit especially since they advertise a 2pm start but the reality is nearer 3.30pm.

I think a deffo 2pm start with 8k would work and I would support it.

    Good luck.

JP - third Saturday of the month sounds great. Sunday is out because of work on Monday morning. That structure looks fantastic.

The SE Christmas cracker is a good example. I was still there up until 4:30 and would have stayed for another six hours in order to win. You will only have the final table and the big money winners playing over 12 hours. They will stay and play, because it will be worth their while. Looking forward to it already.

PS - thanks for the pint on Saturday. Owe you one!!:)

    JP,

    Sat. or Sun. would suit.
Couldn't make the xmas game but would like
    to play in this.
Early afternoon kickoff and finishing up in
the wee hours still leaves a fair bit of play.

Is your Thurs. night game back on in the Plaza?

    Paul

    Hi Guys,

I've just come back from the Plaza regarding dates to run €150 monthly.
Saturdays our out :( Only 2 available in Feb, Paddys day in March and none until early October.

So i've gone ahead and booked the last Sunday of each month starting in Feb, dates as follows.

    Feb 25th
    Mar 25th
April 29th (this is the may bank holiday week, may make it a 2 day event)
    May 27th
    June 24th
    July 29th
    Aug 26th
    Sep 30th
Oct 28th (have also booked 21st as the EPT will probably be on this weekend)

All these games are going to start 2pm, with 1 table SnG's from 12.30ish. I will be using the same blind structure as the Xmas festival but with 8k starting stack.

The earlier start and reduced chips, while providing plenty of play should overcome every1's issues with the game running too late on a school night.

You can qualify online with Paddy Power Poker every Sunday starting Sun 21st Jan. Time and buy in to be comfirmed.

Is your Thurs. night game back on in the Plaza? No this game has moved venue to Molloys, Tallaght Village. Start time 8pm, get there before 7.45 or reg over the phone before 7.45 and get and extra 1k chips.

    Jp

    Sorry Chris,

The date is the same for this month Sunday 25th Feb

I will be meeting the Red Cow next week to look at their calendar, but at the moment the last Sunday in March, April and July are booked out.

While i want to keep this game in the same and the Red Cow would a great venue for the game, i also want to avoid running this on day/weekend as other such deep stacked games.

As soon as i have more details regarding our long term monthly venue i will post details.
