This is from the Dell Outlet store in U.S. and I will use this mail forwarding company( http://www.usglobalmail.com/value.asp) to get it sent to here. In total it will cost about €700 including postage and packing + forwarding fees etc.

So I have a few questions:

1- What do you reckon is this a good deal considering the spec
2- Has anyone out there done something similiar to this
3- The forwarding company will mark whatever value I want on the package will this allow me to evade customs etc.
4- I've looked myself can't seem to see whether the warranty would be valid over here, any ideas
5- Finally the power issue will an international adaptor do the trick

It is a decent enough price alright, a new one with that amount of memory and diskspace will cost you over 1,400 euro (if I calculated it correctly on the Dell website)
I wouldn't trust any shipping company that would be willing to help me avoid customs, seems shady to me. :) Even if it is marked down, there is always a chance that you will be caught.
I think there is a way to just transfer a warranty over to the country you are residing in on the Dell website.
Power issue won't be a big deal, just get an Irish power cord to plug into the power adaptor.

1- What do you reckon is this a good deal considering the spec

Considering the hoops you have to go through, I don't think it is worth it.
3- The forwarding company will mark whatever value I want on the package will this allow me to evade customs etc.

Do you really think this is going to work? Are you seriously saying customs will see a big box from the US and not check it?

Or, consider what happens if it gets damaged on route. If it is marked as having a value of 30$, how much do you reckon you will be able to claim back on insurance (assuming they actuall insure it)?
5- Finally the power issue will an international adaptor do the trick

Laptops are built for portability. They all come standard with dual voltage power supplies these days. All you need is a plug convertor.

TBH, to save a hundred Euro or so, I don't really think it is worth it.

Customs have locked down in recent times. There was a 6400 (same HD,chip and card) in the irish outlet for a close price recently
