Listen to some decent hiphop, DMX is ****e, the only reason he's still going is he hasnt changed, he just sings the same ****e with the same style. His tunes from 5years ago sound exactly the same as his new album. I can never tell his songs apart tbh. He's also a dickhead in person which doesnt help.
Listen to to 36 Chambers from Wu-tang, and then listen to Think Differently music :].

Its more like shouting/barking really loudly, its been like that since the beginning. Hell you're entitled to like him, im just saying listen to some decent Hip Hop, the best stuff is the stuff they dont play on MTV. Look up Tech N9ne, also Soul Assassins Chapter One, really cool album.

Not even close, i mean he had a nice delivery but lyrically he is no more than high middle of the road. Its a diservice to hip hop to mention him as the GOAT, the guy was good at what he did; making emotional, passionate music that touched a lot of people in a positive way but line for line technically speaking he was far behind a lot of emcees who are widely regarded as inferior.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

However, if we were to say the best MC is the best technician on the mic, then people like Black Thought and the Gizah would be seen as the only viable GOATs,while people like Ghostface and Andre would be blackballed. The emotion that a person can bring to a mic is an important attribute to any MC.

No Pac ain't the GOAT because he was never good enough lyrically. ;)

The Rza and U-God come to mind first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

U-God, in my opinion, is the worst rapper in the Wu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭spacecoyote

yeah and i always preferred the RZA from the production side, never his biggest fan as an MC

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 89 ✭✭Colin Mac

BS. Listen to Semi-automatic full rap metal jacket. U-god's opening for da mystery of chessboxin is what made the wu. and The Rza although he is the producer, is the best lyricist. no question. Cappadonna was the worst rapper in the wu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭spacecoyote

I think there is a question. Without a doubt, GZA is a better lyricist than RZA, better delivery too!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Cappadona isn't in the Wu-Tang, or at the very least he wasn't in the clan at the start.

RZA and U-God are undoubtedly the two worst MC's in the Wu, with Masta Killa after those two.RZA talks gibberish for the most part.

Cappa isn't in the group anymore but he was for a while. If you didn't know that, you have no say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

Cappadona was an affiliate never a full member he basically filled in for ODB when he was in jail.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 89 ✭✭Colin Mac

Cappa finally became a member of the Wu-Tang Clan around the time The W was released.

He got the boot shortly after because allegedly Rza got tired of the people not seeing him as a genuine member.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Cappa isn't in the group anymore but he was for a while.

Re-read mypost dude, he wasn't in the group at the start and thats all that matters to me.There was a reason people didn't see him as a genuine member-he wasn't.
If you didn't know that, you have no say.

Lol yeah I'll take that under consideration.;)

I know what your post reads. May not have been a genuine member, but certainly an official one. ;)

So what you guys are saying is the only good *** is a dead *** ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 382 ✭✭Trip Hazard

Every one is forgetting one rapper who is certainly one of the best of all time, reppin it since the 80s, the one and only fresh prince, Will Smith. He dont need to cuss in the records and he dont go killin people in his records.............. :D

OK but seriously its very hard to pin point the best rapper out there because it a matter of opinion,

one rapper that I'm loving at the moment is Black thought, he is genius with his lyrics, Flow Etc.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,240 ✭✭✭Endurance Man

Iv been enjoying Lupe Fiasco's stuff at the moment, really cool album actually.

    *shudders*

tbh nobody is making my jaw drop in the last few months.

    *attatches flame retardant*

Whatever the opinions of the forum are on 50, Young Buck is one of the best in the game at the mo, listen to Straight Outta Cashville, its like southern Illmatic.

Lloyd Banks is a lethal freestyler, though Ive been told the albums are pretty average.

As for GOAT, like the song says Biggie Smalls is the illest.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 495 ✭✭Sajan

DMX is a................... CRACK HEAD. So that kinda rules him out..

Black thought would be my favourite. MF Doom would come close. Gift of Gab.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,373 ✭✭✭Executive Steve

cappadonna SMACKED it on that tune off the first ghost face lp... "winter warz" i think it was...

    heavy as...

as for GOAT well, that's always a futile quest isn't it?

all i can tell is that the standard of the flavvours of the month is plummeting in US hip hop... and there aren't too many [if any] rappers still doing the business properly the way they used to...

that "fish scale" album was all a bit underwhelming, and i used to consider himself and raekwon and the gza to be the best of the wu members...

it's probably because of the fact that pretty much no-one classes Dre as a top "rapper", cos he's not! And the whole snoop thing just sounds tired nowadays imo. Yes the list he gave was a bit strange, throwing DMX, Ja Rule in with LL (early), Nas(early), Cube(early) is a bit bizarre alright

    KRS One
    Rugged Man
    Roots Manuva
    Necro
    Ill Bill
    Common
    Royce da 5 9
    Wu Tang
    Cypress Hill
    Messiah J and the expert
    Jehst

Im more of a Dance music fan myself, but it seems more like people on the forum are more into the commercial side of the genre. Is this down to ignorance or do you think the likes of DMX, 2pac etc are actually better rappers?

Dont wanna come across rude Im actually just wondering? maybe ignorance is too harsh a word just can't phrase it better :D
