Career guidance person?

    I'm lost, I'm really lost.

Just spent a year travelling, I'm back 2 weeks and don't know what to do with myself. I've taken a crappy temp job for the last two days, but they don't pay enough to get out of bed, let alone think!

My background is in a pretty specific area of IT, and I spent the year before I left contracting for a BIG multinational (yeah you know). It was great experience and well paid, but didn't satisfy me, and I wasn't particularly happy. I wasn't unhappy, but don't want to get stuck in this area for the rest of my life.

I promised myself I wouldn't fall into the same rut when I got home, but I just don't know where to go from here. There are many things I think I'd like to do, but I'm not certain enough to dedicate 2/3 years to retraining etc.

Has anyone here seen a career guidance councellor? Do you think it might be useful in my situation? I'm 26 by the way, and am panicing ......
