To the Santa Strike Force Team

On behalf of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, I would like to thank you and all those who donated gifts to the hospital.

The donated toys were very welcome and brought much needed Christmas cheer to our wards. Your support helps to make the Christmas period more tolerable for our inpatients and their families.

Many thanks again for thinking of our hospital at this time of year. It is much appreciated.

    Yours sincerely,
    Geraldine Regan,
    Director of Nursing.

A solid quarter of the cash raised by SSF this year came from the poker tournie/poker players, so I thought you guys should see that. It arrived this morning.
There are pictures linked off the announcement too if you havent see it.

    DeV.

ps: a special thank you needs to be said to one of Irish poker's oldest dynasty's The Fagans (Sean and his offsping! :) )
Every year they have given me a sizeable chunk off the games and electronics and this year was no different. Not only did I get book prices but also a 20% discount and then Sean wandered around his warehouse just picking things up and giving them to me for the charity. Not a word was said about getting anything back but I think a public thanks for 3 years of discounts is the least I can do.

    DeV.

Well done, Tom. People think SSF and other charity work happens by magic. There is a mucho graft involved.

Sean Fagan always comes across as a real gent at the tables, and it seems is even nicer in real life.

And I really enjoyed the SSF game.

Well done Dev and fair play to Sean Fagan - a gentleman in every way.

Who took the photos at the poker Game? Was It DocFarrell? Any of these photos available?

Yeah I think Doc had pics... he's probably lost on the flickr.com site somewhere :p

As for my involvement, I'll let you all in on a secret... I do shag all for SSF :)
People send me cash, I collect it all and spend an afternoon buying stuff, most of which other people deliver for me. It's great fun and I'd recommend it to anyone as its very self-satisfying! Arriving bearing bunchs of toys other people paid for that you get to give away is a blast... is it charity if you enjoy it? I dunno... I'll save that debate for humanities.

I just rarely give feedback from the charities so I thought it might be a reward for those who were there to see the impact... I'm going to see the Debra Ireland ward in Crumlin soon too to take pictures of stuff in situ.
No other forum came close to the poker forum this year, hence this feedback (along with the obvious personal connection to here).

    DeV.
ps: Sean is a gas man and a real gent...
"Do you want that?" *points at 4 foot high snow globe* "er..." "have 4"
"Want one of these?" "What is it?" "F*cked if I know... here, have it." *puts it in the pile... its an Mp3 player* etc :):)

    Repent Thomas, oh doubting one!

    http://picasaweb.google.com/irishnikon

I posted these a couple of days later.

There's a few of Karl, whatta stunna!

none of me, coz I didn't want to steal Karl's limelight.

poker will be taking a back seat for a few months till I get a few things off the ground but I'll be around posting hazily in the midnight hour.

good luck folks, especially those who supported SSF!
keep it clean! don't get sued!
    the good doctor.

(and well done Tom, just for bothering. many wouldn't)
