Alright. The best two rumours I've heard lately are that Modest Mouse may well be playing an Irish gig. In fact the rumour I've heard is that they have confirmed and the venue just have to wait until Modest Mouse officially announce before publicising it.

Also heard that Arcade Fire are coming to Dublin in the next few months.

Disclaimer: All of the above are rumours. Add your own!

    1. The Arcade Fire will be promoted by the promoter we cant discuss and will involve lots of locking and deleting threads :(

    2. Jens Lekman is planning on coming here in Spring

    3. Of Montreal have their eyes on Electric Picnic

Tom from The Chemical Brothers told someone on the EP forum that they're headlining EP when they met him in london last week.

most of the acts for the big unmentionable fest can be guessed from who is/has released an album in the last few months up until the summer. also most of them playing for certain promoters over the next few months are usually booked for a summer fest slot with that promoter.

Is that still going from the one guy on the ep boards who heard it from a guy that they wanted a certain venue on dame street because I havent heard much in follow up on this.

Arcade Fire are doing UK dates so finger's crossed they'll throw in a Dublin one while they're at it. Please!!!!!!

Yeah, a few shows later this month there. If they play Dublin it would be really hard to get tics unless they play the point. (are they big enough for it?)
Sebadoh are doing a world tour this year so hopefully they will grace our shores again, also explosions are touring in April and they were amazing last time they played Dublin

Forgot to say the rumoured venue for this gig is not Dublin so people'll be travelling west of the Shannon from all over to get to that one if it's true and their only Irish gig.

I cant see them playing Dublin as part of that tour as they are only playing churches with organs on it. All signs point to it as a work out the live material before a larger tour kinda thing. When they do come here (its inevitable check google trends for arcade fire... we outrank Canada!) the rumoured venue is a particular one on Dame St we cant mention. Hopefully The Point is never ever considered for them.

There was something about Arcade Fire in The Ticket today, and on some line in the article it said something bout an Irish date soon enough. I dont even like them, just letting ya know though

Heard it on New Year's Eve from a friend of mine. We're both friendly with the owner of the venue.

I'm hoping it's true too but you always have to take these with a pinch of salt.

This is the definite European Neon Bible album release date. maybe thats what you were told.

UNLESS they played on the album release date. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

I can confirm Arcade Fire are under MCD, so no more discussion about their Irish gigs from now on please.

As for rumours, aren't The Smashing Pumpkins touted as one of the heavyweights for the festival season? Their new album is out in May.

march 5th is a monday, albums get released on fridays in ireland so it's gonna be the 2nd of march for the album.

i know this post is off topic a bit but neon bible - what i've heard of it - is great.

I'd pretty much cry if they played that festival, cos then Id be forced into buying a full camping ticket...which I dont want to do for either festival. I couldnt see them doing festivals in Europe, more like something Pearl Jam did...mainly their own gigs

I'd say they'll do festivals like Werchter and Rosklide with a few headlining dates inbetween. Possibly Reading/Leeds to cap it all off.

The pumpkins played a lot of shows in Ireland back in their heyday, I'd be surprised if they don't play again this year, they were quite fond of the <snip>.

I can see them playing Reading/Leeds alright, but Id say they'd play Ireland around that time, more than likely the Point, but Id prefer Dame Street. Although I dont really care where they play as such, cos once I see them, my concert-going life could finish happily

    Edit: http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/lineups.php

That, if only small, makes me happy and highly hopeful

I dunno if they'd be so quick to play The Point, after what happened there in '96. I reckon an outdoor gig.

Heres another link, again for Reading, but its more confident of it happening.

Yeah, I understand that concern about the Point. What outdoor places might they play? Not Slane either. RDS or Malahide or something maybe?

I see that the police are reforming for a series of gigs.I could see them selling a few nights in the point no prob.

So the first festival lineups are creeping in... looks like Ozzy Osbourne is going to be one of the big headliners this summer season. Could be playing Download so.

Wonder if the Pumpkins are still in the running after not appearing on the Coachella lineup?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,656 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

I heard Black Sabbath w/o Ozzy, could have been Heaven and Hell maybe or something like that. Think he was mentioned aswell, his solo works obviously. Just look on e-festivals.co.uk or those sort of sites

    Edit:
    Some hot rumours...

The Killers and Muse will will be headlining. Snow Patrol and Scissor Sisters will be playing the main stage as well.

Razorlight, Ash, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, The View, Kings Of Leon and The Fratellis will all be playing unspecified stages.

I'd put some money on Kasabian and The Kooks appearing as well.

I'd say Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs won't play this year.

Yeah, all those bands would seem about right for TITP.

Expect a similar lineup days reversed to show up somewhere here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

Ozzy is playing Hultsfred in Sweden and Gods of Metal in Italy.

Megadeth and Dream Theater are also confirmed for the latter... very nice. :) Hope they all come 'round these parts in some shape or form.

Oh, and Pearl Jam are confirmed for Rock AM Ring I believe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,656 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Megadeth AND Dream Theatre...sweet. Its Gigantour all over again. If they play here, in the middle of my LC, I'll pretty much have to cry. Iv seen Pearl Jam so it wouldnt be the worse, but would like to see them again

Pumpkins confirmed for Rock AM Ring. That's the first confirmed gig I've seen by them.

Surprised Muse are playing Werchter again. I try to avoid them wherever I go but they always end up playing every single festival. :(

    You can always repeat.

:D yeah, that'll look good. Dialogue of conversation:

Principal: So why are you repeating?

Me: I went off to Estonia* during my Leaving Cert to see a band I love

Principal: Riiiiiiight (while putting papers away into briefcase). Well, we'll be in touch anyway (said in no-hoper tone)

*may not be actual location of gig

Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews Band, Wolfmother, Stone Sour on one lineup...me likey that lineup

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,656 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Nobody I know has money (incl. me) to go away much, and even then, most others wouldnt be that pushed to go for it. They not pushed bout ******, but wont go foreign for a festival:(

But all thoes bands pull of great live shows, so even if you dont like them that much..its still a good show;D

If i just wanted a good show i'd go to a Meatloaf gig, or a Neil Diamond one.

    Don't diss the Neil.

Ozzy is playing Wembley Arena the day after Pearl Jam. That might end the rumour of him playing Donington
