can't fiollow the linkas many racing sites are filtered in work. I think you'd have needed to back him before he won over xmas to get the value tho.

A horse i had an eye on for this race all year was silent oscar but don't think he was entered. he's only rated 128 over hurdles and his run in the xmas hurdle shows that he's seriously well handicapped over hurdles.

The going will be the key to his chances ans if it is soft/heavy which it probably will I would give him a big chance.

does anyone know what the handicapper has done to silent oscar after his run last thursday. Immediately after i thought he'd get at least a stone.

This horse has some seriously good bumper form. Was backed in the morning when leading run made a winning debut and finished a decent second. The third horse giolla day has proved a moderate enough handicapper over both hurdles and fences tho. He beat a grade 3 chase winner (ballyagran) at punchestown who had also won a bumper, a point to point and a maiden hurdles beating carthalawn (not the most reliable horse but smart nevertheless). He ran poorly next time out but beat himself by pulling too hard and then won another bumper by a long margin when heavily backed at the listowl festival. Reminds me of newmill last year, I'm here waiting all year to back the horse in a handicap and connection sblow his mark by running a bit too well in a grade one!!!

My exact thoughts! Maybe it was a test to see if they would bother sending it over seas in March?

if someone was to strategically place a nice 155ish horse in the county hurdles silent oscar could go well.

anyway, sorry. all this is off the subject of the thread.

My Tip for the race is the same as it was for last years race.Bon Temps Ruler. It was a close 5th in the race last year off 10st 4lbs.This year it carrys the same weight.I was told before last years Pierse hurlde that they highly fancied it for the county hurdle at cheltenham and it would take a decent horse to beat him.It got injured and couldnt take its part in the race.Ive heard the horse is still in good form maybe even better than last year. Its a nice price with some bookies.

I'll be waiting to see the official race card and ratings before deciding to have a bet on this. Looks like an interesting line up though, Son of Oscar, Silent Oscar, New Field, Allez Petit Luis and Adamant Approach all catch my eye.

Gah!! Now the haunting memory of Hawadeth's fast-finishing 2nd @ 50/1 from way out of the handicap comes flooding back too! :(

As for the Pierse Hurdle, I'll be on Dolphin Bay at 23/1. 7lbs better off with View Mount Prince for one and a half lengths.

Im going for streetshavenoname @ 14/1 Pcrooks. Good from, likes the distance and has won on heavy ground before.

I wasnt a million miles away with Mister Hight...ran a cracker considering the conditions and the weights! Like a train a few to go. 20/1 second top weight in the Pierse aint bad I suppose
