Focus issues

Firstly my camera is a fujifilm s5000 approx. 3yrs old. Now don't laugh but my father wanted it as he needed a camera with an obvious flash. Note he didn't need it to take photos! I showed him how to put the flash on constantly whether in light or dark conditions but when he was using it he forgot what I had said. He then left the lens cover on the camera with the flash on automatic and proceeded to flash all around him.
My issue now is will this definitely have affected the focusing on my camera.
It seems now that without the flash my pictures aren't as crisp as before( they are blurry).
Can this be corrected, recalibrated etc.?

It could be that when not using the flash that the camera is opting for a slow shutter speed and what you're seeing is camera shake and not out of focus shots, post up a couple of examples and it'll be easier to tell.

Sorry for the delay in replying here are two example photos. If it is camera shake why are the pictures clearer when the flash is used?

krbkev, it would really help if you provide links to original full resolution images, but in my opinion it looks like motion blur.

Those are indoor images made without flash. It is only natural that you could not hold your camera steady enough to make a sharp picture with a long expore corresponding to such conditions.

Because flash fires for very short period of time, much shorter than the exposure in the case of these two images. So your camera does not move much for that time.

I think you should not blame your father. It was always like that. Get outside on a bright day and make some non-flash shots. It must be fine ;)

Thanks to all for replying. As you can tell I'm not an expert so I'll try to be less paranoid about the pictures I take.
