converting camera files on my laptop

    i wanna save footage frommy digital recorder to mpeg or avi but currently it just show me 2 folders video and audio and the files i think are mdx ??

    i wanna just transfer footage from camera to laptop as mpeg and hints or help would be great

    What make digital recorder is it as it may be a propitiatory container from the manufacturer that say for instance only it's own editing software opens at a guess...

    its a jvc camcoder new one with built in 0 gb hard drive

    Without knowing the model number can't really help that much.

    I can point you in the direction of JVC's software site & there is a video capture software link on the page, it lists the supported models in a pop up window when you go to download it.

    Didn't any software come with the camcorder itself ?

    yeah and to be honest its probably my own fault as i havnt really gone through it all yet
